People Who Help Us
We have had a very exciting week. It began with class discussions about the people who help us at home. We then looked at the different roles of the people who help us at school. We enjoyed a visit from Mr Eady and asked him lots of questions to find out exactly what his job entails.
Finally, we started looking at the emergency services. We used a non-fiction book to research firefighters and this sparked all sorts of wonderful learning in the classroom. We have been practising putting out fires, building fire engines, painting using fiery colours, creating our own helmets, labelling firefighters and engines and reading a selection of fiction and non-fiction books.
We continued our roles as firefighters at Forest School. We found two cats who were stuck in the trees. After a lengthy discussion about our rescue tactics, we decided to climb up one of the trees and created a ladder for the other. We succeeded in retrieving both pets.
