Maths
This term, we continue to focus on measurement in our Maths lessons; turn our attention to the concepts of money and time. We will begin by learning about the different denominations of money (coins and notes) in a practical context. We will then move on to carrying out calculations involving addition and subtraction, using number bonds as a key method. We will then apply our new knowledge when tackling word problems using bar models as a key strategy. After this, we will learn to tell and write the time from an analogue clock, including using Roman numerals from I to XII, and 12-hour and 24-hour clocks. We will then further consolidate our knowledge by solving problems involving the comparison of different units and durations of events, all the while focusing on our use of vocabulary (o’clock, a.m./p.m., morning, afternoon, noon and midnight). We will then conclude by looking at the conversion of different units; learning the number of seconds in a minute and the number of days in each month, year and leap year.
