Worship and Prayer
Acts of Worship
Each day at Chevening St Botolph's we hold an Act of Worship for the whole school community. Children, staff and volunteers come together as a school family to worship, pray, explore the Bible and learn together.
We follow the Diocesan Worship materials, although each day is a little different in focus, leader and style of worship.
Monday, Miss Minnis, our Head Teacher leads our Act of Worship.
Tuesday, we have class worship in our classrooms. Children help to lead worship for their peers.
Wednesday, Mrs McLean or Mr Qureshi lead our Act of Worship.
Thursday, we have "Prayer and Praise" led by Mrs Robinson.
Friday, we have celebration Worship. This is led by Mrs Edwards, where we encourage one another by celebrating the way in which we have upheld our Christian Values, achieved well in our leaning and used the gifts which God has given us. We focus our prayers around one of our Christian Values.
Guest Appearances
From time to time, we are fortunate to have guests to lead our worship. We warmly welcome a variety of visitors, including staff from local Churches:
- The ministry team from St Nicholas Church in Sevenoaks
- The Minister from Bessels Green Baptist Church
- Some of the ministry team from Hope Church Sevenoaks
- The HisStory Troupe - a local church group
- Bishop Given - from our link school in Tanzania
Pupil-led Worship
At Chevening St Botolph's, we have confident and talented children who regularly lead our Act of Worship.
In response to requests from the children, the children are now more fully involved in preparing, leading and participating in Worship in their own classes on Tuesdays. In addition, each class is taking responsibility for leading an Act of Worship for their parents and the whole school. This means that parents can be more fully informed and involved in school worship.
Each day, the team of Worship Leaders open our celebration by choosing children to light the candle, open the Bible, lead a response from the rest of the school and lead the prayers at the end of the worship. Harry and Ki ensure that the technical side of things run smoothly, cueing the music, videos, slide shows and words as they are needed.
Each term, the team of Worship Leaders work together to prepare and present an Act of Worship for everyone.
