We have started term 1 with exploration of the book I am Malala: The girl who stood up for education and was shot by the Taliban by Malala Yousafzai

"I come from a country that was created at midnight. When I almost died it was just after midday."

 Malala Yousafzai spoke out when the Taliban took control of the Swat Valley in Pakistan. She spoke out for the right to an education

On Tuesday, October 9, 2012,  she was shot whileon her way home from school, and she was not expected to survive.

Her recovery has taken her from Pakistan to New York and gained her a Nobel Peace Prize.

Through study of this book we will be looking at the way that biographies and autobiographies are written and creating some of our own.

In term 2 we will be looking at Shackleton's Journey and following the travels of Ernest Shackleton and his trip to the South Pole.
